You might think now that being an early riser is difficult, but there are some tips to help you turn into a morning bird. The main two ideas I believe in are 1) sleeping early and 2) having a reason to be up. If you don’t have anything to do when you get up, it’s hard to stay motivated to do it again. So here’s my daily routine and how I stick to it.
1. Check my phone
Starting off with the most controversial one! A lot of people will disagree on me here, but the first thing I do is check my notifications. Since I sleep early, I get to catch up on what happened the night before. You might be surprised and think, “This doesn’t sound good. Shouldn’t you get a cup of coffee, or do yoga, or something?” Unfortunately it’s not that easy. I don’t think anyone can get me to wake up to do yoga, but it sure is easy for me to check my phone in bed. The blue light of my phone also helps me get awake. Within 10 minutes, I’m awake and got my fix of social media for the morning.
Next step of starting off my day is freshening up. After I shower and brush my teeth, I start my skincare routine. I use The Face Shop Chia Seed Foam Cleanser! (While linking, I realized there may be a new packaging? But this is the one I have).
3. Skincare & Makeup
After my cleanser I use the Chia Seed Toner, Marine Hyaluronics from the Ordinary, and top it off with Cerave moisturizer. I’m neutral about the toner, and looking for a new one, so if anyone has suggestions link me below! I know I should be using sunscreen, but I don’t always… Normally I’ll have on light makeup for work that takes me 5-10 minutes.
A lot of people skip breakfast, but I personally feel weird not eating it. It doesn’t have to be a full IHOP meal, but a simple banana and toast is great. Some mornings, I’ll have coffee as well if I didn’t sleep well. At this time, I also pack my lunch which was cooked before during my meal prep.
5. Get Dressed
Now all I have left is to change and leave the apartment! I don’t put too much thought in my outfits. All my work clothes generally go with each other so I can just throw something on without thinking.
